Why is it important?

Delivering the best service for our clients isn’t the only thing that motivates us to be better. We want to target excellence in as many areas as possible, and this means going beyond what we offer as chartered accountants.

We’re talking about things like the impact we have on the local community, the way that we treat our team members and the legacy that our business leaves on the planet.

At Nordens, our purpose is ‘Through Innovation and Inspiration, We Redefine The Industry and Make Business Better’, to live and breathe this purpose, we have a corporate social responsibility to uphold, and only through developing these initiatives will we be able to truly redefine the industry and make business better.

What We’re Focusing On:

1) COMMUNITY

We are lucky enough to be a part of a great local community, so it only seems natural to want to do what we can to support it.

Through our partnership with the Essex Wildlife Trust, we are determined to contribute to the protection and enhancement of habitats throughout Essex and East London.

The natural environment around us plays an important role in the wellbeing of everyone that lives and works in the local area. The whole team are looking forward to getting more involved with some volunteering activities with the trust and discovering some of the wonderful environment that is on our doorstep!

2) CULTURE

Our people are without a doubt our greatest asset.

The team at Nordens are more than the sum of their parts, and we’re constantly striving to make sure that there is a positive and supportive working environment at the company. Whether it’s regular social events, or our renowned away days, there’s never a dull day in the Nordens offices!

A good work life balance is key to having a happy and high performing team. Our flexible approach to work and generous hybrid arrangements mean that our team are able to work hard AND play hard.

The health of our employees is key. We make sure that everyone who works for us is happy and healthy through offering regular first aid training, private health packages and subsidised eye-tests.

3) ENVIRONMENT

As a business we want to make sure that we are having a positive impact in as many ways that we can.

In addition to our partnership with the Essex Wildlife Trust, we’ve set some changes to the way that we operate to be more environmentally friendly including:

Our efforts don’t stop here- we’re determined to keep doing everything that we can to make sure that as a business we’re a force for good in as many ways possible.

4) DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

We firmly believe that having such a diverse team is something worth celebrating.

We’re proud to have such a diverse team working together, and we do what we can to ensure everyone feels like they belong at Nordens.

How we’re Neurofriendly

We like to shout about Neurodiversity because we believe it’s a topic that needs more awareness. Becoming ‘Neurodiversity Champions’ was incredibly meaningful to us as a business and our whole team has undertaken a Neurodiversity CPD course which gave them insight and understanding. To further solidify our determination to become a fully Neurofriendly firm, we have partnered with The Late Discovered Club, a social impact community and podcast, on a mission to give a voice to Late Discovered Autistic women and people, provide access to tailored post discovery support, and to help create safer, more autistic inclusive spaces, places and faces. We’ve also partnered with Ellice Whyte from Mindset BPS, an accredited business psychologist with a master’s degree in psychology and further training in counselling and education.

Our mission is to break down barriers by providing tailored, accessible support that empowers neurodivergent individuals to thrive. By working closely with this community, we aim to create a more inclusive business landscape where every entrepreneur or employee, regardless of how they think or operate, has the tools and opportunities to achieve lasting success.

Female-Led

There’s no doubt that the accounting industry has historically been very male-dominant. However, at Nordens we’re not the ordinary, and our team and Executive Board stands out for being over 60% female! We’re proud to have so many inspirational women working with us to make Nordens great.

TESTIMONIALS

At Nordens, the culture is genuinely inclusive, and it shows in everything we do. No matter who you are or where you're from, your voice matters. There’s a real emphasis on teamwork, and I always feel like I’m part of something bigger. It’s rare to find a place where you feel comfortable being your authentic self at work, and Nordens truly fosters that environment. It’s empowering and inspiring to be surrounded by people who are as passionate about inclusion and respect as they are about innovation.

Silas Hope, Marketing Executive

What stands out about Nordens is the trust and empowerment they give to employees. The firm values our input and encourages us to take ownership of our work. But what makes it even better is how inclusive and supportive the environment is. We work hard, but we also celebrate our differences, which makes for such a positive and enriching workplace. The focus on diversity isn’t just about ticking boxes; it’s genuinely integrated into our company culture and creates a place where everyone feels seen and heard.

Adrian Williams, Accountant & Advisor

Diversity isn’t just a buzzword at Nordens; it’s part of the foundation that drives us forward. I’ve had the opportunity to work with colleagues from all kinds of backgrounds, which has given me new perspectives and allowed me to grow, both professionally and personally. The energy here is fantastic—Nordens is a place where people really listen to each other and where different viewpoints aren’t just welcomed, they’re celebrated. That makes a huge difference in creating a dynamic and open workplace.

Ashlee Cooper, Chief Marketing Officer

Nordens thrives on diversity, and it’s that mix of experiences and ideas that really fuels our creativity. I’ve never worked anywhere with such a progressive culture—there’s always room for new ideas, and the leadership genuinely encourages innovative thinking from everyone, regardless of position or background. That’s what makes Nordens such an exciting place to work; we’re constantly evolving, and everyone plays a part in that evolution.

Abhishek Medal, Tax Advisor

From day one, I’ve felt a strong sense of belonging at Nordens. It’s refreshing to be part of a company that not only talks about diversity but actively works to cultivate it in meaningful ways. Whether it’s through team-building events or discussions around inclusivity, there’s always a push to make sure everyone feels valued and respected. It’s a company where people come first, and that’s reflected in how we work together every day. Nordens has become more than just a workplace; it feels like a second home.
