We’re looking forward to the beginning of July next week. One, because the sun will be shining and two, because it’s the start of furlough changes.
We have previously outlined the announced changes to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) so this should just act as a reminder. From Wednesday 1st July on-wards, employers can bring furloughed employees back to work for any amount of time and any shift pattern, while still being able to claim CJRS grant for the hours not worked. It’s expected that many employees will be brought back on part time to fulfil their main duties, but still have the rest of the pay subsidised by the government. This will allow businesses to gradually start up again and still afford to keep staff.
