Dropshot UK: how we helped them succeed in the padel market

Joe Sword, Director at Nordens Chartered Accountants discusses how we helped Dropshot keep ahead of the pace within the padel market through regular accountability sessions to ensure they could meet their goals.

Over the past few years, Padel has become one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Celebrities like Beckham, Federer and Neymar have all jumped onto the padel bandwagon, and...the manager of Liverpool Football Club even installed a padel court on their training ground.  

Like any market boom, with increased popularity comes increased opportunity.  

Before the pandemic, our founder – Mark Norden had been improving his padel skills on the court with a brilliant coach – Toby Bawden. Toby, also happens be the director of both Dropshot UK and Hexa Padel.  

Whilst Toby helped Mark to improve his padel skills, Mark introduced Toby to Nordens to help him improve his business skills.  

When we first met with Toby, he joined our Interactive Accelerator Programme which gave him the opportunity to get more structure for the business, more guidance and to learn from other business owners.  

When you are trying to keep pace with a fast growing market, accountability is key, so eventually we started having accountability sessions with Toby to make sure we were meeting often, looking proactively at the numbers and making informed business decisions.  

Through these sessions, we were able to identify areas of the business that were more or less profitable, look at trends in the industry and capitalise on those trends.  

Fast forward to today, Toby confidently understands his business finances, holds himself accountable to the plan put in place for him to achieve his goals and knows what roadmap to follow to get where he wants to go.
